Creating a conscious awareness about this vital organ.

My artwork involves the political aspects of women's health concerns. This project has evolved into creating an awareness about the vital organ, The Uterus. This art work started when I realized I had an unnecessary hysterectomy. My hope is to alter the easily accepted approval of this medical procedure and to encourage people to educate themselves and look at the HERS Foundation website before having this surgery at www.hersfoundation.com.

My artwork includes a beaded velvet uterus, embroidered shawl, and uterus prayer flags. This media is purposeful, relating to the artwork from feminists and the third wave feminism and use of craftivisim.
